Nicola Parente and Aaron Courtland design an Artistic Bus Shelter for Houston METRO.
Leadership Houston XXXII partnered with METRO to create four artistic bus stops with the theme “Houston, City of Opportunity”. Artists Nicola Parente and Aaron Courtland were chosen amongst over 100 entries to design a METRO bus shelter. Parente and Courtland’s collaborative “Flower of Life” is a permanent bus shelter located at Stella Link Road @ Cheena Drive.
According to Parente and Courtland “The flower of life, a sacred geometry symbol represents what Houston is all about. Opportunity and growth is all around us. Whether you’re native or a transplant, Houston welcomes all. This welcoming attitude is what makes Houston such a diverse city. The culture of Houston is ever-evolving which leads to opportunity, hence the flower of life.” Art Consultant Michele LaRocco (Your Art Girl) was instrumental in the art selection process. Other chosen artists include Syd Moen and Kelly Devine.
