Dominic Walsh Dance Theater (DWDT) is a Houston-based contemporary ballet company that inspires and entertains audiences and artists with visually stunning performances. Dominic Walsh Dance Theater presents innovative, thought-provoking works by its founder and other leading U. S. and international choreographers.

“For Time out of Line, I have teamed up once again with a great collaborator, Nicola Parente. I had this idea of creating one work of art through another as one designs their journey, and Nicola has been the perfect partner for this endeavor…”

— Dominic Walsh (Founder/Artistic Director, Dominic Walsh Dance Theater)

One of the highlights of this Third Course will be Walsh’s new, multi-disciplinary Time out of Line that merges a technically charged, experimental movement vocabulary with visual art aspects, scenic design by Walsh and Nicola Parente, and video. “There is a growing global movement of mixed media in which I have a great interest, and I have always been fascinated with the power of collaboration,” says Walsh. Time out of Line is set to Arcangelo Corelli’s La Notte di Natale (Christmas Night) and features a key scene that incorporates painting on the floor. While executing Walsh’s choreography, the dancers will create a mix of color and pattern with their feet onto the covered floor. There will also be a video element demonstrating how we record time designed by Tim Thomson. With each performance of Time out of Line, a work of art is created on many different levels. Walsh will create and rehearse Time out of Line in Florida with the dancers of Sarasota Ballet working alongside the DWDT Company Members. Then Walsh and the cast will head back for the Texas premiere the following weekend (May 5-7, 2011, Hobby Center for the Performing Arts, Zilkha Hall).
